2 years ago, I almost gave up on my entrepreneurial dream.

But then, things started to change.

In today’s issue…

  • How failure is the ultimate teacher (yes, really).

  • 5 lessons that helped me monetise my personal brand.

  • The plan you need for consistent growth in marketing.

  • Listen to Jeremy Harbour speak about failure.

Two years ago, I was so close to calling it quits.

My personal brand was earning me a grand total of… well, nothing.

Zilch. Nada.

It wasn’t exactly the entrepreneurial dream I had in mind.

But over time, things started to shift.

What changed? I learned some pretty valuable lessons along the way, and now I’m here to share them with you.

Lesson 1: Get good at writing copy (really good).

To build a personal brand that brings in clients, you need one skill above all, copywriting. The ability to communicate clearly, convincingly, and with a bit of personality will make you stand out. And the better you get at it, the more people will pay attention.

Lesson 2: Share your journey (and be honest about it).

People don’t connect with perfection, they connect with stories. Your wins, your struggles, and yes, even your failures are what make you relatable. Don’t be afraid to show your human side.

Lesson 3: Stay away from negative Nancys.

Your environment shapes your mindset. If you surround yourself with people who constantly whine, discourage, or drain your energy, guess what? You’re going to find it a lot harder to thrive. Instead, build a circle of people who push you to be better, encourage your efforts, and keep your spirits high.

Lesson 4: Consistency is key (No, seriously).

Posting on LinkedIn or sending out a newsletter shouldn’t just be a checkbox on your to-do list. You’ve got to show up, week after week, with effort that matches your ambition. Consistency isn’t just about frequency, it’s about sustained quality.

Lesson 5: Embrace failure like a boss.

Here’s a mindset shift for you: failure isn’t the enemy. In fact, if you’re not failing at something, it means you’re not pushing hard enough to see where you can improve. Each failure is packed with feedback, and feedback? That’s pure gold.

While we’re on the topic of failure, let’s spend a few more moments here.

Failure shouldn’t be something you fear.

I know, I know, that’s easier said than done.

But let’s break it down.

What’s the real takeaway from failure? It’s not defeat. It’s feedback.

When you reframe failure as a source of knowledge, you realise it’s your best chance to grow.

In our line of work, fear has no place at the table. Marketing is about three things:

  • Being a savvy strategist.

  • Constantly reading and responding to data.

  • Embracing failure as part of the process.

For our clients, we implement a story-driven marketing strategy, and let me tell you, we A/B test everything.

Here’s how we approach it:

  • Set clear objectives.

  • Run the tests.

  • Measure the results.

  • Analyse the data.

  • Refine the strategy.

If something doesn’t work, that’s fine, it’s a lesson, not a loss.

And you should adopt this mindset too.
