Don’t be beige: Stand out or fade out.

Blending in is not for entrepreneurs with a story to tell.

In today’s issue…

  • Why blending in is boring.

  • How to make your story your ultimate flex.

  • Getting comfortable with ruffling feathers.

Let’s get one thing straight, blending in is for wallpaper.

Yup, plain, predictable, beige-on-beige wallpaper.

And unless your life’s ambition is to be a living room backdrop, let’s talk about why playing it safe won’t get you noticed.

Because here’s the thing, no successful entrepreneur rolls out of bed hoping their business will be as forgettable as everyone else’s.

But how do you avoid the “beige trap”?

Simple.

By owning your story.

In case you need convincing:

Your story isn’t just some optional or superficial addition on your LinkedIn profile. It’s:

  • Unique: No one else has lived it, and no one else can copy it (even if they try).

  • Powerful: Stories create a connection and stick in people’s minds.

  • Unforgettable: When you leverage your story, people remember you long after they scroll past your post.

So, if you’re tempted to go for cookie-cutter strategies just because that’s what everyone else is doing… don’t.

Your story is your brand’s biggest flex. Embrace it. Flaunt it. Make it work for you.

Need help with a formula that works?

Here it is:

  1. Be unapologetically you: Share your experiences, opinions, and quirks. If it makes you different, it makes you memorable.

  2. Stay consistent with your message: Don’t jump from trend to trend. Stick with what matters to you.

  3. Engage with your audience: Build a community around your story, not just your product or service.

Let’s move on to our next topic.

Worrying about pleasing everyone.

Here’s a little secret for you:

If everyone loves what you’re saying, you’re probably not saying much at all.

When you start showing up as yourself, with all your unique experiences and beliefs, guess what?

Not everyone’s going to love it.

And that’s okay.

Actually, it’s more than okay.

It’s a sign you’re doing something right.

So, yes, some people will absolutely love what you’re sharing.

They’ll connect with it, be inspired by it, and even become loyal followers or clients.

Others? Not so much. They might even disagree.

But that’s the point.

In a world where everyone is trying to blend in, the real magic happens when you challenge the status quo.

It’s what grabs attention, builds credibility, and shows people you’re not just here to nod along.

You’re here to make an impact.

So, if you’re serious about building a personal brand, here’s my advice:

  1. Stop trying to please everyone.

  2. Own your perspective.

  3. Get comfortable with disagreement.

In fact, embrace it.

Disagreement means you’re doing something different.

Something that makes people stop and think.

That’s something to be proud of.
