My podcast almost didn’t happen.

But here we are, more than 80 episodes later.

In partnership with

In today’s issue…

  • How I went from terrified to producing over 80 podcast episodes.

  • Three lessons I’ve learned from hosting a podcast that applies to your brand.

  • The real secret to building a powerful personal brand (and it’s not about flashy logos).

  • Find out how Matt Haycox went from bankruptcy to £500m.

I bet you didn’t see this coming.

The idea of starting a podcast scared the cr*p out of me.

Yup.

The person who’s now produced over 80 episodes, hosted more than 50 guests, and created content that’s been listened to thousands of times.

Funny how things change, right?

But here’s the thing.

Getting comfortable behind the mic wasn’t just about overcoming my fear.

It taught me lessons that have shaped not only my podcast but also my personal brand.

And today, I’m sharing those lessons with you because they’re just as relevant for building a podcast as they are for crafting a killer personal brand.

Lesson 1: Impactful stories (It’s all about the narrative).

When I started bringing guests onto the podcast, it wasn’t just about having someone chat with me for 30 minutes. Each guest needed to bring the heat, stories that were engaging, insightful, and impactful. That’s what keeps people coming back for more. It’s the same with your brand. If your story doesn’t resonate, if it doesn’t leave an impression, you’re just background noise.

Lesson 2: Quality (It’s not optional).

A podcast with bad sound quality is like a business card printed on a napkin. It doesn’t matter how great the content is if people can’t hear it clearly. Investing in decent equipment made all the difference for me, and the same goes for your brand. Whether it’s your website, your LinkedIn content, or your marketing materials, quality matters. If you want to be taken seriously, don’t skimp.

Lesson 3: Consistency (Yep, you knew this was coming).

Producing a podcast isn’t something you do on a whim. It takes commitment, consistency, and showing up week after week. And guess what? The same rule applies to building a strong personal brand. Consistent effort, consistent messaging, and consistent you. That’s what builds trust and keeps people engaged.

Now, let’s talk about something that’s crucial for both podcasts and brands alike:

Authenticity and finding your positioning.

Most people get distracted by:
- Fancy logo designs.
- Social media tactics.
- Overcomplicating their message.

But here’s what they should be focusing on instead:
- Clarifying their vision.
- Staying laser-focused on their mission.
- Showing up authentically through their content.

Then, there are two types of entrepreneurs.

  1. The ones who jump straight into advertising, hoping to reel in clients without working on their positioning.

  2. The ones who take the time to nail down their positioning first and then build everything around that foundation.

You can probably guess which one I’m advising you to be.

When you’re clear on who you are and what you stand for, everything from your marketing to your messaging falls into place.

So whether you’re thinking about launching a podcast, refining your LinkedIn strategy, or just trying to figure out how to show up more authentically in your business, remember:

Authenticity is your superpower.

And it’s the key to building a brand that lasts.
