I hope you have had a brilliant festive period!
As you read this, you’re probably coming towards the end of that weird week between Christmas and New Year and like many of us, you might be just starting to feel a bit of pressure for the year ahead..
There will be 3 types of people you’ve encountered this week:
The ‘I’ve got my entire year planned and I’m going to smash it’ person
The ‘I’ll just see where this year takes me’ person
And the ‘This year, I’m going to become an entirely differently person’ person
Know what I’m talking about?
I’ve always been a big fan of this premise ‘If everyone is doing it, it’s probably wrong’
Now, I know that doesn’t work for all walks of life, but for goal setting and New Years resolutions I think I’m pretty much spot on.
Resolutions die
Habits stay true, if….
You have accountability, a target in mind and a purpose or passion.
January is not the time to start working as hard as you possibly can, because you’ll burn out by March. It’s only a fast paced time for those who have already got clarity on their message.
Instead, use these next two weeks to get clear on your story, what you want to do and how you’re going to get there.
Use something like this free Ikigai template on Miro to hone in on what 2024 is going to bring for you.
If you’re struggling to clarify your story or gain the attention you deserve in your business, reach out to us!
And remember, 2024 will be awesome, if you put the boring admin work in first and then build from there - don’t start at the end!
The magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re avoiding!
Cool stuff this week
💡 Ali Abdaal launched his new book ‘Feel Good Productivity’ with zero ad spend, purely into his organic audience. Again, reinforcing the power of the personal brand. Ads are fantastic and can garner an incredible return, but investing in the long term game of audience building will support your ad spend no end! Do both well!
💡Notion released a whole new set of planning tools for 2024 to help with your yearly goals. If you’re not using software like Notion, Trello, Frame or Airtable for your goal setting and collaboration, you’re making business life a lot harder for yourself!
💡We’ve seen a million posts on socials about what to stop/start and continue for your business in 2024. Mostly from unreliable sources and people who just needed some likes for their content. For a really nice, well balanced roundup have a look at this!
The Healthy Entrepreneur Podcast
For the last episode of 2024, I have a corker for you!
🔥 Ep 63. The Doppelganger episode - chatting to future Olympian Freddie Pullen (not me)!
I unashamedly Googled myself (we’ve all done it) and guess who came up?
Freddie Pullen, Champion English boxer extraordinaire!
Obviously not me, so I reached out to my namesake and we had a lot in common, which made me want to bring him onto the podcast to share his knowledge with you guys!
Freddie is 19, a champion amateur boxer competing all over the world within the England boxing camp with his sights firmly set on the Commonwealth Games in 2026 and Olympics in 2028!
In the episode we cover:
- The pressure of high performance
- Mental health for athletes
- Creating a winning mindset and self belief
- Long term versus short term goals
- Of course, a bit on Youtuber boxing
