Hey Healthy Entrepreneurs,

Another week of Healthy Hustling for us! We’ve been on a couple of podcasts, onboarded some amazing new members and even got interviewed by The Institute for Leadership & Management.

I want to talk a little bit about finding your passion this week. I’ve spoken to some amazing founders this week and almost all of them were absolutely dead set on their passion. They know what they want to do and where they want to be.

However, the frustration I could sense from them because they were struggling to get their initiatives into a real flow was palpable. We can all relate right? You’ve got an incredible vision, you want to make an impact, but you just have a million ideas and executing them is frustrating. Especially when building an online presence these days is so incredibly important but is one of the main causes of burnout for entrepreneurs; the shear amount of time and effort needed to display your value.

This is why the Healthy Hustle exists for us. It’s not about creating a routine you can do for 6 months in the hope your business takes off. It’s creating a system that you can maintain for 50 years consistently. Why? Because if you do the right thing for 2 years, let alone 50, it’s inevitable that you will succeed. There’s a great quote that explains why a lot of very intelligent people get left behind: “You’ll never stop the person who keeps showing up”. Consistency is the best way to learn, evolve and grow.

The other thing I wanted to mention this week is flow state. We’ve introduced to this email an ‘Experiments’ section where we want to bring you real life lessons we are learning from our life & business to benefit yours. One of the things I was trying alongside Antonia this week was completely irradicating notifications from our phones and laptops as part of our daily deep work. Literally morning 2 of this experiment it came undone. I missed a call. A call with my incredible accountability partner, which I value very highly as part of my week. I noticed 17 minutes into the call that I was missing something! So, I guess my experiment didn’t work because I missed the call. But it did work, because my flow state was uninterrupted!

Test: Reduction in alcohol and coffee consumption

Time range: 3 months

Hypothesis: Positive impacts on anxiety and stress levels

Results: For the past 3 months, I decided to stop drinking alcohol and coffee to test how it would change my anxiety and stress levels on a day to day basis. I felt as though there was a compounding effect of these substances on my sleep, overall mood and confidence as well as my focus and concentration.

At first, it was a little tough because I was so used to having coffee mid morning. But as time went on, I felt more awake and clear headed without it. I noticed a reduction in my afternoon fatigue, an increase in my gym session quality and over time an increase in energy levels. The quality of my sleep increased massively, which I noticed through my tracker. I felt way more connected to my body, and I was less anxious and less stressed.

Cool stuff this week

The Stress Doctor, Dr Tara Swart was on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast and explained the science behind stress literally being contagious! I’ve spoken to a lot of founders about this this week and you’ve got to watch this!

New York city saw the worst floods in many years, with much of Manhattan literally underwater! Casey Neistat sums it up well here!
