Tired of LinkedIn crickets?

Here’s how to get real engagement.

In today’s issue…

  • The biggest LinkedIn mistakes I see every day.

  • Why authenticity is the key to connection.

  • Five insights LinkedIn has taught me.

Alright, let’s dive in. You’re posting on LinkedIn, but… crickets.

Or worse, a single, sad “like” from a distant cousin.

Why? Well, here’s the brutal truth: your posts might be missing the mark.

But don’t worry, I’ve got your back.

These are some common mistakes that could be holding you back.

1. Relying on AI without a personal touch.

AI can be a lifesaver, but it doesn’t replace authenticity.

Copy-pasting generic content? Feels as exciting as reading a phone book.

2. Pitching without a story.

Nobody wants to be sold to directly. Instead, try weaving a story:

·   Present a problem.

·   Mention a dream solution.

·   Then, subtly introduce your product or service as the answer. People love a good plot twist.

3. Making it all about you.

Newsflash: No one’s here to hear you shout, “Look at me!”

Pro tip: Start with “I” but always end with “you.” Make your posts about them.

4. One giant text block = eyes glazed over.

People are scrolling, not settling down with a novel.

Break up your text with white space.

Your readers’ eyes will thank you.

5. Drowning in jargon.

Your MBA prof might be impressed, but your LinkedIn audience? Not so much.

Ditch the complicated words and speak like a human.

If you’re tired of getting lost in the feed, it’s time to embrace the beauty of storytelling.

Here’s how to make it happen:

  • Add context to your posts to set the scene.

  • Use specifics like dates, figures, or contrasts to make your story pop.

  • Don’t shy away from both wins and struggles, vulnerability resonates.

The next time you hit “create new post,” remember these golden rules:

  1. Keep it simple, relatable, and human.

  2. Posts that connect aren’t about perfection; they’re about realness.

  3. This approach doesn’t just fill your sales funnel; it helps manage it, too.

Now, let’s get to what posting on LinkedIn has taught me.

It’s not a place just for likes and views.

It’s a platform for genuine connection, personal growth, and yes, even a little humble bragging.

Here are my top 5 takeaways:

·   People crave authenticity.
Forget the polished version. The real you is what people connect with.

·   Consistency is the algorithm’s best friend.
Post once a month, and you’ll be invisible. Show up regularly, and LinkedIn will reward you with visibility.

·   Not everyone will like you and that’s okay.
Focus on engaging with those who care, not trying to win over everyone.

·   Engagement is a two-way street.
Want more likes and comments? Start giving them. It’s all about showing up for others.

·   Your voice matters.
One thoughtful post can inspire, motivate, or even change someone’s perspective. Never underestimate your impact.

So, the next time you’re gearing up to post, remember: LinkedIn loves a little bragging, but only when it’s real.

Keep it honest, keep it relatable, and watch the engagement roll in.
