The what, the why and the how of humanity
It’s almost too great to think about!
I had the same feeling on Saturday morning last week when we drove out into the desert at 5am.
We joined some friends for an early morning breakfast in the dunes for sunrise and bizarrely, to watch the flamingos fly around the lake!
I’ve never seen the stars shine so brightly
And it made me think. Why not push harder towards what I want to achieve in my life?
The stars either make you feel so small you may as well not exist or
So small that you may as well triumph without worrying about what others may think of you!
Anyway, the psychology of marketing has changed and we need to utilise something.
Something I’ve called The Checkback. When you think about buying something online, how often do you go and check the brands Instagram or the owners?
Even if you don’t, the younger generations do, especially Gen Z. Why? Because they have a distinct lack of trust in marketing.
Now, your clients may not be from that generation, but if psychology tells us anything, behaviour is contagious and it’ll soon be everyone’s prerogative to perform The Checkback.
I’ll even try and find them on LinkedIn sometimes. This is not the case for impulse purchasing. Usually it’s for something more meaningful, expensive or new to market.
Understanding The Checkback is so important for you as a seller. If someone likes your product or service, what is helping them answer the most important question they’ll ask themself, negatively?
“Why is this a terrible idea?”
Because if they find something, or in reality, they don’t find something, they’re unlikely to buy.
Make sure you’re utilising your visibility, storytelling, authority, personal brand to support your business brand because if it fails the checkback test, you’re not going anywhere!
