The Unsexy Side Of Entrepreneurship

The Unsexy Side Of Entrepreneurship

It’s been a busy week for us as we entered the final month of the year!

We signed on 3 new clients for 2024 marketing campaigns and 2 new clients for personal branding strategy, which is awesome.

We also started the week by talking to two incredible entrepreneurs on our podcast: Daniel Priestley and Charlie Johnson, which will be released in the next couple of weeks.

Why am I telling you this?

Well, when we were speaking before the podcast, Dan said something that resonated with me quite firmly and with our new clients in mind.

He spoke about the massive differences in marketing and selling.

In fact, we spoke about how he honed his skills in selling and then learnt marketing second. He said, too many people think of marketing, but mean ‘promotion’.

They put themselves out into the world with their offers and think because they’ve been brave enough to do that, that people will come!

When, in actual fact its customer acquisition we need to be focussing on. The art of attention seeking to build authority and then grow our customer base.

Personal brand + Offer positioning + Value adding campaigns = Convertible attention

We all want ‘likes’ and ‘impressions’ but how often do you get comments, messages and calls?

That’s true marketing. Marketing to convert followers into clients.

That’s what the best entrepreneurs understand and can do at will.

So, when we signed our new clients after speaking to Dan I thought, we are going to double down on the positioning side, even more than we usually would before we market these people and brands, as a test.

It’s unsexy, it’s the side of business most people don’t like, the salesy side, but guess what, it’s what will turn your promotion into marketing and your marketing into return on investment yield!

Cool stuff this week

I’ve just got to say, in terms of marketing, attention and business strategy, this time of year is incredible! To be able to gain attention amongst all the noise is a real skill and for that reason, I wanted to point out some incredible campaigns I’ve seen this week.

💡 This DIY advert has gone viral this week from a bar in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. It shows that what ever your budget, attention is easy to find if you tell the right story. What a tear jerker that one is!

💡 For the third year, Christmas Tree Rental in London has become front page news! Entrepreneur Catherine Loveless knew people were losing faith in the Christmas traditions of real trees and decided to create a sustainable alternative, which is thriving! You rent a tree, it’s delivered, you look after it and then it’s collected and planted so you can rent it again next year. Once it gets over 7ft it’s planted back in its original forest. We love this idea!

💡John Lewis partnered with Saatchi & Saatchi for their 2023 festive campaign, which has already racked up nearly 2m views on Youtube. They’ve gone for carnivorous plant aesthetic this year but with the charm and imaginative relatability we’ve come to know and love from the UK based retail store.

The Healthy Entrepreneur Club podcast

This week we had one awesome podcast episode released:

🔥Ep 60. My Podcast Guests Net Worth Is Over $1bn - Podcast Secret

I posted on LinkedIn last week about the incredible guests we’ve had on the podcast and the unique method we use to link them to one another.

In this episode, I break down that method and answer the other question I got asked as a result of that post. How do you come up with ideas for the solo episodes?

The answer: repurposing intrigue!

Please do leave a review and a rating if you listen to one of these amazing episodes:
