I used to work with the worlds biggest attention seekers

And they were incredibly good at what they did!

I used to work with the worlds biggest attention seekers.

They would never stop

They were relentless at needing everyone to see what they were doing and what they had worked on.

Just like a friend who’s just got a new dog, you know the type!

Heck, that was me when we brought Olsen home (our Fox Red Labrador), I wanted everyone to see him and appreciate him!

The difference was, I was working at the worlds largest digital publisher and those attention seekers were paid to be the best at what they did.

They would routinely garner the organic attention of 500m+ monthly users for us to then monetise through our ecommerce products and systems.

These people were/are the best in the business, they were creative but with business minds.

Our teams were run on data but had the freedom to think, experiment and fail in the pursuit of a positive trajectory.

So what can we learn from this kind of corporate giant?

  1. Creativity first, data second

Creatively solve your clients solutions, creatively communicate with them and allow your team to show their personalities. Then steer the ship using the data you’ve received. If you lead with data, you’ll always be constrained by what you can see in front of you.

  2. Niche problems get solved quicker.

The teams we had, worked on niche digital publications. If they didn’t, no one would have been listening. Think about what you do, look back at who you’ve done it for and solve that problem to the best of your ability. Then solve their next problem. If you’re something to everyone, you’ll sell to no one.

  3. Creating content doesn’t have to be hard.

People always ask us how we come up with our stories to post. Well, I use what my old teams used. My notes on my phone. I write down experiences I’m having and I relate them to what they taught me. I then tell the story of how it came about so I don’t bore my followers. The exact same way we do for clients and we did for billions of people in my corporate days. Every experience you have is a link to something you’ve learnt and can relay as a lesson to others.

Cool stuff this week

💡 Alex Hormozi invests in Skool.com. We told you, 6 months ago that building a movement was the difference between success and failure in the coming years and one of the worlds most influential entrepreneurs has just validated that claim. He invested in one of the worlds leading online community platforms. So if you’re not building a movement around your business, find my email below and lets do a free strategy session.

💡Even if you don’t follow Formula 1 or haven’t seen Drive To Survive on Netflix, I implore you to have a look. The business side of it is incredible and I’ll never stop talking about the things we can learn from it as business owners. Guenther Steiner was sacked this week as the CEO of HAAS F1 Team. Who cares? Well, he was voted the most popular person in formula one (personal brand: tick), but he could not deliver the results for the team on the track. So? Don’t build your personal brand around something you cannot deliver. That’s it, think on it.

💡 If you haven’t seen Fool Me Once on Netflix, it’s a new series by Harlan Coben. He’s done a number of series, all thriller/mystery type, with an incredible aesthetic. The reason I mention it here is because it’s such a good example of storytelling. If we can raise intrigue for our business, explain the story, then give people the answer but simultaneously wanting more, in the perfect 3 act method, we’d never have to look for leads again. Story telling and creating is the best form of marketing so learn it from where ever you find it captivating you.
